Pro / Player Review
The Ashaway Wallbanger Lite Meta is an appealing choice for players who prefer a fast, manoeuvrable racket rather than relying on additional frame weight to generate power. Its 150g construction makes it particularly effective for quick volleys, interceptions and rapid changes of direction.
One of its key strengths is the combination of lightweight handling and a raised sweet spot. The Slim Pro head design helps maintain attacking potential, while the premium graphite construction provides a responsive and controlled feel. The addition of META technology is particularly welcome for players who appreciate reduced vibration and improved comfort on impact.
Compared with heavier racketball frames, the Wallbanger Lite Meta places greater emphasis on racket head acceleration and manoeuvrability. Players with a naturally fast swing should find it well suited to generating their own pace, while those who depend on racket mass for effortless power may prefer a heavier alternative.
The factory-fitted Ashaway SuperKill XL17 strings provide a quality starting setup, allowing players to use the racket immediately without requiring a string upgrade.
Overall Assessment: A well-specified lightweight racketball racket offering a strong balance of speed, precision and comfort. Particularly suitable for technically confident players who enjoy fast exchanges, attacking volleys and accurate shot placement.
Q: Who is the Ashaway Wallbanger Lite Meta best suited to?
A: It is particularly suitable for intermediate and advanced racketball players who favour fast racket preparation, quick reactions and controlled attacking play. Its lightweight construction also makes it appealing to players looking for improved manoeuvrability.
Q: What is the difference between the Wallbanger Lite and Wallbanger Lite Meta?
A: The Wallbanger Lite Meta builds on the original lightweight design by incorporating Ashaway's META technology. This additional material is designed to strengthen the graphite frame, absorb vibrations and improve playing comfort.
Q: How much does the Ashaway Wallbanger Lite Meta weigh?
A: The racket has a stated frame weight of 150g, placing it in the lightweight category for racketball rackets and making it particularly manoeuvrable during fast rallies.
Q: Does the racket provide enough power despite its lightweight construction?
A: Yes. The Slim Pro head shape and raised sweet spot are designed to support effective power generation. However, players will generally need to produce more of their own swing speed compared with using a heavier racket.
Q: What are the benefits of META technology?
A: META technology incorporates a natural material into the graphite construction to improve frame toughness and absorb vibrations. This is intended to provide a more comfortable and controlled hitting experience.
Q: Does the Ashaway Wallbanger Lite Meta come pre-strung?
A: Yes. The racket is supplied factory-strung with premium Ashaway SuperKill XL17 racketball string in a 1.25mm gauge, making it ready for court use.
Q: Is this racket suitable for beginners?
A: Although beginners can use the Wallbanger Lite Meta, its lightweight design is generally better suited to players who have developed a consistent swing and can generate their own power. Beginners who prefer greater assistance from the racket's weight may find a heavier frame more forgiving.
Q: Can the Ashaway Wallbanger Lite Meta be used for Squash 57?
A: Yes. The racket is specifically designed for racketball, also known as Squash 57, and is suitable for recreational, club and competitive play.
