Which Squash Ball?

Dated: 7 October 2010
Which Squash Ball Should You Use?

Most players use the double yellow spot. But if you are just starting out that could be disastrous. There is a whole range of balls to choose from.

Children can start with the Mini-Squash Balls. There are 3 sizes. The bigger the better for very young children.

Adult Beginners can use the blue Dunlop Max Balls. They are slightly larger but a full-size squash racket works well with them.
Once you have mastered keeping the ball going, after a few sessions, move on to the
Single Yellow Spot Balls.

If you have reasonably good co-ordination and experience with rackets and balls.
Use Single Yellow Spot Balls.  These bounce better when it is cold, or where you find it difficult to keep a rally going. Some players like to use these when the courts cold and unheated in the winter.

Intermediate and Regular Club Players mostly use the Double-Yellow Spot Squash Ball.
